WXStar - DIY Kit Assembly

WXStar DIY Kit Assembly

The WXStar is provided as a DIY kit. If you can fly a plane, you can assemble this!

What's in the Kit

  • WXStar mainboard - fully assembled and tested
  • 3D printed enclosure - top and bottom parts
  • Screws - for assembly
  • Screwdriver - the one you'll need

  • Enclosure Options

You have three options for the enclosure:

    Option 1: Order from us
We can ship a 3D printed enclosure with your kit.
    Option 2: Print your own
Download our STL files and print at home if you have a 3D printer.
    Option 3: Print farm
Send our STL files to any 3D print service.

    Assembly Steps

Assembly is straightforward. The mainboard fits into the enclosure, and you secure it with the provided screws using the included screwdriver.

Detailed assembly instructions are included with every kit.

    Mounting Holes (VESA 75 x 35mm)

The standard WXStar enclosure features four holes in an industry standard 75 x 35mm pattern.

To make the device look nicer, the holes stop slightly below the top surface. If you need them:

  • Take a 4mm drill bit
  • Drill through the material from the back side, using the existing holes as a guide
  • Insert M4 nuts in the existing slots
  • Attach equipment using M4 bolts

  • Why a DIY Kit?

    1. Maker Community

Many pilots love 3D printing and would like to print their own enclosures - either to modify them or just for the fun of it.

    2. Faster to Market

As a kit, the certification requirements are lower. This allows us to bring this innovation to you much quicker and cheaper than a fully certified consumer device. For such a niche solution made in small numbers, those extra costs would add up quickly.

    Certification Notice

The WXStar is a DIY kit for pilots only. It comes with no certification as a consumer electronics device nor as an EASA or FAA aviation device. It is fully up to the pilot and builder to determine if any certification is required in their specific context.
